Java wedding ceremony consist of series of procession, such as siraman pengantin,midodareni,convenant marriage, panggih,reception.
1. Siraman Pengantin (the bridegroom splash by water)
The Splash doing a day before convenant marriage. The splash do to both of bride and groom. The splash means is to clean and make them pure and holy. Who will splash them?
The first splash is giving to the bride and doing by the father and the mother of the bride, than continue by the father and mother from the groom. Then paes(the java master ceremony) cut the hair in the fronthead of the bride,make it stright. The next splash is doing by the bride family sort by the old. After the bride splash finish, the groom splash doing by the father and mother from the groom and contunue by the father and mother from the bride, than by the family of the groom. After this ceremony, the bride and the groom my not yet live together.
2. The Night Midodareni
In this night the groom come to the bride home to more know the member of her family. The bride stay at her room. In the Catholic and Christian there is a worship in this night.
3. Convenant Marriage
Ther ceremony doing follow them religion. The bride usually using a dress call kebaya (java traditional dress). Convenant Merriage is the time for both of them to united legaly as husband and wive.
4. Panggih
Panggih show other traditional of java.
(1)This ceremony begin by the balangan, the bride and groom throw each other by a leave caller sirih.
(2) the next is Widi Jadi, the bride wash the foot of the groom. Then ther groom underfoot an egg.
(3)Kacar Kucur, this ceremony meaning the income of the husband is given to the wive for the family needed.
(4) Kembul Dahar, in this ceremony the bride and ther groom bribe each other this is mean,give thanks for all of the God give and they live thoghether in sad and happiness.
(5)Sungkeman, the bride and groom kneel to both off parents to show they respect to the father and mother.
5.Reception
After panggih, the reception begin, the guest take a picture with the wedding, and get a lot kind of delicious food.
6.Panggih,
The reception is heald by the bride family and the secon party called panggih is heald by groom family.
